Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare menu items as instructed by their supervisor.
  • Maintain advanced knife handling skills.
  • Work efficiently in any kitchen section.
  • Have a good understanding of culinary terms and concepts.
  • Read, understand and follow company recipes.
  • Be proficient in completing tasks, working productively and effectively.
  • Follow Public Health standards and regulations within their section.
  • Maintain their assigned area for inspections.
  • Report to duty at assigned times and follow instructions from their supervisor.

Financial Management:

  • Manage costs through proper use and maintenance of records, supplies and equipment.

Personal Qualities:

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications and Education:

  • A minimum of 4 years in an upscale hotel or resort environment with at least 2 years as a Line Cook.
  • Culinary school degree is required.
  • Strong management skills in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, decision-making and people skills.
  • Superior customer service, teambuilding and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of personalized services including needs assessment techniques and guest satisfaction evaluation techniques.
  • Strong planning, coaching, organizing, staffing, controlling and evaluating skills.
  • Intermediate computer software skills are required.
  • Possess a good understanding of basic accounting principles such as Debits/Credits and adjusting entries.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Internal Candidate Requirements:

In addition to the stated hiring requirements, internal candidates must fulfill the following:

  • Completion of at least one contract as Commis Cook with a performance rating of satisfactory or above, along with demonstrated leadership skills.
