Job Title: Senior Financial Services Tax Expert

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Return Preparation and Review: Thoroughly review complex financial services client returns, primarily for hedge funds, private equity, and fund of funds, blocker corporation returns, and S-corporation returns prepared by staff/seniors.
  • State Returns Review: Conduct in-depth reviews of state returns for financial services clients.
  • International Filing Requirements: Identify international filing requirements through organizational chart studies and review international tax returns.
  • Training and Feedback: Provide training to existing/new joiners on concepts, technology, and offer timely feedback for each project reviewed.
  • Client Management: Supervise kick-off calls to understand clients, maintain regular connections with US counterparts, and intervene in budget conflicts, resource scheduling conflicts, etc.
  • Guidance and Support: Guide staff/seniors on potential tax adjustments due to tax law changes, e-filing validations, and other related matters.
  • Team Management: Recruit, train, evaluate performance, mentor, and enable the team to achieve organizational goals.
  • Training Development: Facilitate trainings and help develop training materials for technical topics.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Independent Research: Ability to conduct independent tax research in unseen tax scenarios.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn new tax software, quick learner, enthusiastic, positive demeanor, and a team player.
  • Time Management: Ability to work long hours during busy season times, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks based on urgency.
  • Multi-tasking: Good at multi-tasking and handling various projects simultaneously in an efficient manner.
  • Leadership: Ability to train and supervise staff, get work done efficiently, guide subordinates through technical problems, and build working relationships with peers, supervisors, and US colleagues.
Position Requirements:
  • Certifications: Qualified Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant (US), IRS Enrolled Agent.
  • Experience: Experience in detailed review of tax returns, knowledge of relevant software, and experience of more than 5+ years, particularly in financial services returns.
