Job Opportunity: Import Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Import Specialist to oversee the end-to-end import process, ensuring seamless and timely movement of shipments.

The ideal candidate will leverage their customs expertise to manage import documentation, liaise with Customs House Agents, and coordinate with internal teams.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and manage import documentation: invoices, packing lists, COO, airway bills, test-use declaration letters, etc.
  • Liaise with Customs House Agents (CHAs), shipping lines, courier companies, and customs officials for clearance.
  • Handle cosmetic imports by ensuring accurate declarations and compliance.
  • Track shipments end-to-end and provide timely status updates to internal teams.
  • Coordinate with finance team on duty payments and clearance costs.
  • Regulatory Support:
  • Work with CDSCO, Port Health Authority, and other regulators for NOCs/approvals when required.
  • Maintain a reference library of HS codes, import regulations, and clearance files for efficiency in future shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with DGFT, Customs Act, GST, and EXIM policy relevant to research materials.
  • Operational Support:
  • Support procurement of consumables, lab supplies, and equipment.
  • Maintain import & logistics database (Excel/Zoho) for shipment history, clearance times, and cost reports.
  • Suggest process improvements to reduce delays and optimize costs.

Requirements:

  • Experienced Import Specialist with hands-on experience in customs operations or investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of import/export documentation, HS codes, customs duties, and non-commercial import procedures.
  • Experience handling clearances in pharma, clinical research, CRO, medical devices, or FMCG sectors is preferred.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with CHAs and customs authorities independently.
  • Good communication skills in English and Hindi/local language.
  • Proficiency with MS Office/Excel; familiarity with Zoho/logistics tools is an advantage.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
