Job Title: Data Governance Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a centralized data catalog with harmonized metadata to promote visibility, reuse, and reduce annual spend.
  • Assess investments in external data and provide strategic recommendations to the Enterprise Data Council for informed investment approval.
  • Work closely with Global Strategic Sourcing, Cyber Security, and Data Engineering teams to standardize contracting and manage the lifecycle of data assets.
  • Coordinate activities at the tactical level, interpreting Enterprise Data Council direction and defining operational-level impact deliverables and actions.

Role Requirements:

  • Responsibly maintain a comprehensive data asset catalog with harmonized metadata to increase reuse and inform future data acquisitions.
  • Co-develop and maintain processes to capture external data purchase forecasts, focusing on generating required metadata to support KPIs and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Global Strategic Sourcing and Cyber Security teams to standardize data contracts and enable data asset reuse across functions.
  • Develop internal expertise on external data content to increase reuse across teams through participation in data seminars and education initiatives.
  • Partner with the Data Engineering team to design data standardization rules making external data FAIR from inception.
  • Ensure high-quality data through rigorous maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • In partnership with the Data Privacy and Policy team, develop and operationalize data access controls to ensure compliance with data contracts and security requirements.
  • Publish metrics to measure the effectiveness of data reuse, literacy, and reduction in data spend.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business, Engineering, IT, or related field with years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record of managing external data assets used in the life-science industry (e.g., claims, EHRs).
  • Experience working with data providers, supporting negotiations, and vendor management activities.
  • Technical data management skills with in-depth knowledge of Pharma data standards and regulations.
  • Awareness of industry trends and priorities and ability to apply to governance and policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to execute complex projects in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets or projects.
  • Proficiency in modeling tools (e.g., Visio) and basic programming skills.
  • Experience working with agile development methodologies such as Scaled Agile.
