Job Description:

The backbone of our organization lies in its finance department. Over time, the accounting function has evolved from a simple internal setup to a comprehensive team supporting various aspects of the business, including assessing financial implications and growth opportunities.

The Finance Manager plays a pivotal role in managing the accounting operations, ensuring that periodic financial statements are prepared accurately and fairly in compliance with international financial reporting standards and local regulations. This includes maintaining separate books of accounts as required by local laws, timely closure of audits, both internal and external, and the filing of statutory reports in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the team to ensure compliance with US and India GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and local tax and accounting regulations across operating jurisdictions
  • Analyze and interpret financial results to manage risk effectively, ensuring the financial reporting of legal entities is in accordance with US GAAP and Local GAAP on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for our accounting partner and oversee their daily tasks, coordinating with them to review and finalize monthly financial records
  • Evaluate and improve accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting by outsourced accounting partners
  • Review accounting records maintained by external vendors and suggest corrections as needed
  • Drive accounting operations for procure-to-pay processes, including expense management and balance sheet transactions
  • Prepare month-end general ledger close activities for all legal entities in India and the US
  • Support the preparation of financial statement disclosures and assist in annual and periodic audits as per applicable laws
  • Collaborate with external accountants to complete statutory audits and due diligence processes

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in MS Office Zoho Books and QuickBooks
  • In-depth knowledge of India and US GAAP accounting principles and procedures
  • Familiarity with the SaaS business model and key metrics
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect information to find solutions proactively
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts and ideas in a clear and persuasive manner

Experience and Education:

  • A qualified Chartered Accountant CA
  • A minimum of 4-6 years of experience, with a preference for candidates who have worked at funded start-ups for 2+ years
  • Prior experience in hiring, performing annual appraisals, and team management is an asset
  • Closure of audits with Big-4 Auditors in India and/or the US is highly valued
