Senior Tax Professional

We are seeking a skilled Senior Tax Professional to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and filing tax returns for various jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Tax Return Preparation: Prepare, review, and file tax returns for multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assignment Management: Manage assignments for pre-cycle and off-cycle work, including customer outreach, bulk account administration, and special projects.
  • Critical Prepayment Administration: Manage critical prepayment administration tasks as needed.
  • Trusted Resource: Serve as a trusted resource for troubleshooting and resolving jurisdictional notices on behalf of customers.
  • Jurisdictional Research: Conduct research and resolve jurisdictional notices on behalf of customers, ensuring accurate and timely resolutions.
  • Customer Communication: Communicate effectively with customers, jurisdictions, and internal teams regarding research and resolution efforts.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in tax preparation, with expertise in transactional tax complexities from a jurisdiction administration standpoint.
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent experience; or Master's degree with minimum 6 years' experience.
  • Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to build relationships with tax department stakeholders; knowledge of standard reporting requirements, notice generating activities, red flags for audits, and communication strategies.
Preferred Skills:
  • Avalara Customer Data Flow: Expert understanding of an Avalara customer's data flow.
  • User Platform Features: Deep understanding of user platform features related to jurisdiction (nexus, exemptions, marketplace, rules, filing calendars, reporting, transactions).
  • Product Enhancement Requests: Ability to review internal product enhancement requests related to jurisdiction and collaborate with Product Management team when necessary.
