CPE Business Development and Sales Role Overview

BASF India Limited is seeking a seasoned professional to drive business development and sales activities for our Superabsorbent CPE in India. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for establishing and building the CPE business in India.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop market-specific techno-commercial solutions, identifying suitable products and determining product positioning and business models.
  • Understand technical aspects of product performance and monitor competitive product performance and prices to ensure competitiveness of our products.
  • Provide technical support to customers, handling complaints and collaborating with regional technical colleagues.
  • Work with RBU marketing to share market information and opportunities and determine local market strategies.
  • Influence end-user specifications to accelerate product approvals, emphasizing technical advantages over competitors and developing sales strategies.
  • Lead advocacy efforts with external stakeholders and influencers to grow the superabsorbent industry in the diaper segment.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and maintain professional knowledge through educational workshops, conferences, and professional networks.
  • Develop a Go-to-Market Strategy.

CPE Sales Responsibilities

  • Conduct market mapping for CPE business in India, calling and visiting prospective customers, traders, and distributors to understand market needs and opportunities.
  • Identify new customers and applications to maintain a healthy pipeline of new business.
  • Diversify the customer base to ensure sustainable and healthy business development of CPE Superabsorbent in India.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle with customers.
  • Monitor competition by gathering market information on pricing, products, new product development, and business models.
  • Optimize inventories and achieve DIV, OIV targets for merchandising business.
  • Interact with RBU CPE colleagues to agree on volume allocations and prices for customer clusters in India and understand new business development activities at the global and regional levels.
  • Consistently provide accurate monthly forecasts for India and follow up with CSO's and Regional colleagues.
  • Regularly update the Indian market to the Regional marketing and sales team and devise sales approaches in line with the organization's overall approach.
  • Develop strong business relationships with Global and Country key accounts in close coordination with Global and Regional Key accounts managers.

Minimum Education and Qualification Requirements

  • Education: B.Tech/B.E in Chemical Engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Working Experience: minimum 10-12 years in the chemical industry.
  • Technical and Professional Knowledge: B2B sales, experience in Speciality Chemicals, and experience in the Personal Care segment would be preferred.
