Safety and Compliance Specialist

The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving a comprehensive health, safety and environmental program in line with global standards, corporate objectives and regional strategies. This involves ensuring local governmental regulatory compliance and leading a team to achieve a progressive approach to health, safety and environmental issues.

This role requires a high level of technical expertise and comprehensive knowledge of HSE regulations with the ability to define and analyze problems and contribute to solutions.

• Conduct HSE pre-screening of new accounts and advise on the way forward.
• Conduct audits and inspections as per planner, assisted by line management in developing corrective action plans; and completion of the plans tracked.
• Plan and execute business continuity planning, providing support for bids and tenders, communicate and motivate safety at all levels.
• Lead campaigns: Achieve safety improvement plan, LTIR, FAC rates. Implement HSMS & FSMS systems through committee-making and leadership.
• Project manage risk mapping, LOP & due-diligence analysis of Food Safety and H&S hazards for a safe start-up, including HIRA, BCP, ERP, Crisis management, JSA.
• Provide training on safety policies, procedures, loss prevention, fire safety, WAH, PTW, LOTO, TBT, BBS and emergency preparedness.
• Responsible for third-party audits: ISO 22001, ISO 45001, EMS, HACCP.
• Investigate incidents thoroughly, preparing CAPA, RCA and ensuring timely closures of agreed actions. Conduct vendor audits and training, liaison with consultants, SME's, certifying agency.
• Prepare HSE statistics, MIS, design safety training modules, memo, circular, newsletter, bulletins on safety-related programs, safety induction training, special PPE.
• Establish a world-class HSE culture using best practices and a progressive approach to successful functional improvement throughout regional operations.
• Support corporate HSE goals and business initiatives by creating a high-performance HSE organization.
• Provide regulatory and technical guidance to senior management, operations personnel, and regional specific input to the HSE team.
• Establish and lead a regional HSE group to identify and address common issues across regional facilities, ensuring a standard approach to implementing corrective actions.
• Take a lead role in developing local HSE Coordinators/Specialists to ensure an appropriate level of knowledge and skills to deliver HSE objectives and business value.
• Lead the regional audit program, ensuring key metrics related to the program are tracked and reported and issues resolved in a satisfactory manner.
• Develop, communicate, implement, and maintain HSE management systems based on ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards to ensure all global regulatory standards are met or exceeded.
• Take the lead role in incident and crisis management for HSE incidents.
• Ensure that Company-wide HSE statistical data and key performance indicators are collected and accurately reported to local management and corporate HSE.
• Participate as a key member of the global HSE leadership team and contribute to achieving overall HSE goals and objectives.

Key Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive health, safety and environmental leadership experience in a service industry, implementing safety systems, policies and procedures, changing a safety culture, developing and leading teams, safety auditing/inspecting, training.
• Must be self-organized and flexible to travel, with 80% time spent traveling across the country.
• Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English, and excellent organizational skills to direct and facilitate meetings and make presentations.
• Strong leadership skills, ability to influence and lead teams, and demonstrated track record of successfully executing complex multidisciplinary projects and assignments, assuming accountability for results.
• Ability to prioritize in a challenging environment of competing needs and expectations.
