Job Opportunity: Dam Safety Specialist

  • This role entails leveraging subject matter expertise in hydrological and hydraulic modelling, particularly with advanced tools like MIKE, HEC_HMS, or others.
  • The ideal candidate should have experience dealing with flood routing, dam break analysis, inundation mappings, and operational protocols of dams using state-of-the-art mathematical models for Emergency Action Plans (EAP).
  • Responsibilities include leading the development of technical documents following national/international guidelines/manuals and codes from relevant bodies.
  • The specialist will provide technical assistance for EAP development, facilitate stakeholder consultation meetings, and review plans presented to Project Support Teams.
  • Ongoing tasks involve conducting capacity building programs, performing integrated flood routing studies, and assisting in finalizing integrated operations of reservoirs.
  • The specialist will also conduct need-based flood routing studies, develop training calendars, and provide inputs for guideline revisions related to dam safety and EAPs.
  • Additional responsibilities include contributing data to the National Dam Safety Information System, supporting academic institutions, and participating in conferences.
  • The specialist will assist in finalizing Project Rehabilitation Reports and deliver Training of Trainers sessions to enhance capabilities.
  • Ongoing activities include undertaking inspections, accompanying Central Dam Safety Review Panel teams, and performing DRIP-related tasks as assigned.
