Deputy General Manager Human Resources

The role of Deputy General Manager Human Resources at a leading pharmaceutical company is a critical position that oversees the HR function for Quality & Operations functions. It involves strategic HR Business partnership with the Site Leadership team, developing and implementing human resources strategy and policy to support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic HR Partner: Develop, implement, and evaluate employee relations and human resource programs and practices. Collaborate with business leaders to understand their needs and align people strategy accordingly.
  • Talent Acquisition and Onboarding: Secure a talented workforce within timelines to ensure business continuity. Identify manpower requirements based on business priorities and plan budget, hiring accordingly. Ensure a best-in-class onboarding experience for new joiners.
  • HR Manpower Planning, Budgeting: Assist in the budgeting process of all HR items (manpower costs, operational costs) and headcount requirement. Periodically review actual spend versus approved budgets, optimize manpower utilization, and analyze trends to ensure cost efficiency.
  • Performance Management: Drive continual performance management and annual compensation review for the site. Train line managers on goal setting and performance feedback. Enable business leaders to make informed decisions regarding promotions, compensation revisions, etc.
  • Talent Management: Implement periodic talent reviews and execute development/retention plans. Create succession plans for critical roles. Identify talent priorities, development needs, and drive programs to address them.
  • Learning & Development: Promote a culture of learning and high performance. Identify training needs, prepare a training calendar, and evaluate training efficacy. Collaborate with corporate HR to implement various training programs.
  • HR Compliance & Statutory Obligations: Ensure HR legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable statutory laws. Maintain records and represent the organization at associations related to Human Resources. Liaise with statutory bodies and government agencies to ensure adherence.
  • Labour Management: Maintain harmonious and productive industrial relations environments. Track productivity and identify cost-saving opportunities. Ensure statutory compliances are followed by manpower vendors. Resolve employee grievances timely and take appropriate disciplinary actions if needed.
  • Employee Engagement & Wellbeing: Implement initiatives and activities to impact key drivers of employee engagement. Lead wellbeing initiatives at the site to achieve holistic wellbeing.
  • HR Operations: Supervise and review all HR operations related to employee lifecycle to streamline and increase efficiency.
  • Guide and Coach: Guide and coach HR team members to take higher responsibility, effective stakeholder management, and develop next-level leaders.
