Job Title: Assistant Manager

An experienced professional is required to oversee all aspects of claims handling, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Acknowledge receipt of claims within 24 hours and report them to the relevant authorities.
  • Gather relevant documents and assess the merits of each claim, determining the best course of action.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to handle claims and court cases until closure, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Handle P&I related matters such as cargo claims, General Average (GA) & stowage, and third-party damages to company containers and cargo.
  • Recover debt through tribunal and ensure prompt reserves are taken against third parties.
  • Draft and review service agreements, MOUs, letters of intent, and other business-related documents.
  • Implement procedures implemented by the Head Office Legal Department within the network.
  • Provide guidance to offices on handling legal matters and assist other departments with shipping-related issues.
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Monitor and handle court cases, appeals, writ petitions, and actions initiated by authorities.
  • Appoint and liaise with reputable surveyors and outside counsels, coordinating with the Head Office Legal Department.
  • Make recommendations for improving claims handling processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on case law and regulations impacting the company's scope of activity.

The ideal candidate will possess a graduate degree and at least 5+ years of experience in the shipping industry, preferably with Cargo/Marine claims experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and proficiency in MS-Office tools especially Excel and PowerPoint are also required.
