Operational Excellence Specialist Role

About the Position

The Operational Excellence Specialist plays a key role in driving improvement efforts to enhance operational effectiveness and profitability across Global Manufacturing sites and processes. This position involves collaborating with Site Leadership Teams and Director Operational Excellence US, Europe & India to develop and lead performance transformations that improve operational excellence, systems, and drive a continuous improvement culture.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cost-saving projects through process efficiencies.
  • Establish standards for group manufacturing excellence.
  • Design OEE programs to track, identify, and eliminate lost production causes.
  • Conduct diagnostics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Apply value stream mapping exercises to define processes; work with sites to implement or streamline/improve use of LEAN tools, 5S, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Propose and support projects and programs within businesses for identifying improvement levers, setting smart objectives, and carrying-out Manufacturing Excellence initiatives.
  • Support improvement project execution by promoting proven tools and approaches to achieve manufacturing excellence.
  • Ensure sustainable improvements through training and skill building of leaders.
  • Lead and mentor leadership team members, facilitating a motivating culture.
  • Recommend methods to increase quality of products and/or services.
  • Participate in self-development activities and training of others.
  • Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices. Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Work closely with other OE Managers in US, EU & IN sites and the Director of OE (US, EU & IN) to implement improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. Education with a scientific background is highly desired.

Experience: BS/BA in a scientific or business discipline and at least 5-8 years' experience in project/program management, operational excellence / continuous improvement, or consulting role required. Experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology field and relevant MS/MBA (Project Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, etc.) preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Extensive previous experience in implementing OE/CI projects in manufacturing (pharmaceutical preferred) environment.
  • Certified Six sigma Black Belt.
  • Proven experience with Lean Six Sigma experience to drive business results.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Impact and influence skills and strong experience in change management.
  • Initiative.
