Purchasing Manager Job Overview

Purchasing managers play a vital role in procuring high-quality materials and goods at the right cost. They oversee the timely delivery of materials to sites and ensure prompt payments to suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure quality materials at optimal costs
  • Ensure timely material delivery

Major Accountabilities:

  • Identify alternative products, conduct cost-benefit analysis, and present findings to management
  • Handle end-to-end procurement of assigned materials, ensuring timely delivery and payment to suppliers
  • Optimize inventory by reducing lot sizes and delivery lead times
  • Transfer excess dead stock to other sites
  • Establish vendor relationships through market research and joint improvement projects
  • Coordinate with all sites, conducting regular site visits
  • Foster strong networking within and outside the organization
  • Monitor performance, review progress, and take corrective action to achieve targets

Candidate Requirements:

  • Expertise in construction materials
  • Manage end-to-end procurement of assigned materials, ensuring timely delivery and payment to suppliers
  • Experience in high-rise buildings is preferred
  • Enhance product value and negotiate contracts for alternate products or vendors
  • Develop effective negotiation and presentation skills for site coordination
  • Research-oriented job requiring continuous monitoring and review
  • Take timely corrective action to achieve targets
