Job Title: Release Manager

Overview:

A seasoned release manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and monitoring of software releases in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Release Strategy: Develop comprehensive release plans that outline timelines, milestones, and dependencies across the release lifecycle.
  2. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with development, QA, operations, and product management teams to ensure all teams are aligned and prepared for upcoming releases.
  3. Risk Mitigation: Identify, track, and mitigate potential risks or issues that could impact release timelines or quality.
  4. Change Control: Ensure all changes are well-documented, communicated, and approved according to established change control processes.
  5. Cloud Deployment: Coordinate deployments in cloud environments (e.g., AWS), ensuring compliance with relevant security and operational policies.
  6. Automation & CI/CD: Champion continuous integration, delivery, and deployment practices; drive automation to improve release reliability and efficiency.
  7. Monitoring & Reporting: Track release progress and provide regular updates, including detailed performance metrics and status reports to stakeholders.
  8. Issue Resolution: Lead the resolution of issues during release phases to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  9. Release Calendar Management: Maintain and manage the organization's release calendar, ensuring coordination with all relevant stakeholders.
  10. Merge Management: Oversee the merging of validated changes into main code branches, coordinating closely with development and QA teams.
  11. Change Advisory Board (CAB): Present planned changes in CAB meetings and secure approvals as required across different regions.
  12. Go/No-Go Readiness: Organize and conduct Go/No-Go meetings with stakeholders to assess readiness before deployment.
  13. Post-Release Activities: Monitor post-release performance, coordinate hotfixes if needed, and facilitate Post-Implementation Reviews (PIR).
  14. Documentation Compliance: Ensure all release-related documentation is complete, up-to-date, and meets compliance/audit standards.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Certification in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect)
  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration tools (e.g., Kubernetes)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools
  • Strong understanding of release processes in complex, large-scale environments
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and optimize workflows
