Senior AS400 Support Specialist

The position requires an experienced Senior AS400 Support Specialist to deliver high-quality technical assistance to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Expertise in IBM AS/400 systems, including COBOL, RPG III, RPGILE, SQLILE, and CLLE programming languages.
  • COBOL is a mandatory requirement.
  • Application Understanding: Familiarize with the business purpose of AS400 applications and overall processes/functions it supports.
  • System Architecture: Understand the system architecture diagram of the AS400 application, including its interface mechanisms with upstream and downstream systems.
  • Environment Documentation: Document various AS400 environments (e.g., Production, Pre-prod, Test, Dev), OS levels, and database versions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in COBOL, RPG programming, DB2 databases, CL commands, and communication protocols specific to AS400.
  • Code Review: Perform walkthroughs of complex, critical, or error-prone COBOL, RPG code modules, including customized routines.
  • Integration Knowledge: Understand how the AS400 application integrates with other systems.
  • Monitoring Setup: Familiar with current monitoring mechanisms, log directories, and housekeeping processes on AS400 servers.
  • Compliance Adherence: Identify applicable compliance and regulatory requirements for the AS400 system and ensure adherence.
  • Support Scope: Document dependencies with L2/L3 support teams and interactions with infrastructure teams for AS400.

The ideal candidate should have at least 6-9 years of experience in supporting AS/400 systems and be well-versed in COBOL, RPG programming, and DB2 databases.
