Job Title

As a Senior Technical Specialist, you will play a key role in the installation and maintenance of our products.

  • Server Setup:
  • Ensure target servers meet system requirements for each product (OS, CPU, RAM, disk space).
  • Verify server access to necessary repositories and allow inbound/outbound network traffic.

Product Installation:

  • Install R, Python, and Quarto versions as needed.
  • Download and install the Posit Workbench package.
  • Configure Workbench through configuration files, setting up users, session management, resource limits, etc.
  • Start the Workbench service and ensure it runs on startup.
  • Test installation through a web browser.

Installation and Configuration:

  • Download and install the Posit Connect package.
  • Edit the connect.gcfg configuration file to set up server URL, authentication methods, email notifications, and storage options.
  • Configure SSL certificates for secure HTTP connections.
  • Start the Posit Connect service and ensure it runs on startup.
  • Publish content to Connect from RStudio to confirm it is working.

Package Manager Installation:

  • Download and install the Posit Package Manager package.
  • Set up CRAN, Bioconductor, and custom package repositories in the Package Manager configuration.
  • Set up access controls, including user authentication and permissions.
  • Start the Posit Package Manager service and ensure it runs on startup.
  • Access the Package Manager through a web browser and configure client R environments to use the Package Manager.

On-Going Maintenance:

  • Regularly apply updates and patches to our products and their dependencies.
  • Monitor license usage and renew licenses as needed.
  • Establish a support plan through internal teams or via our support channel.
