Job Title: Business Development Lead – Parametric Insurance

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial professional to drive growth in our Parametric Insurance vertical. This role is ideal for a candidate with a proven track record in building sales from the ground up, strong industry relationships, and deep knowledge of parametric risk solutions.

The successful candidate will lead strategic initiatives, build new markets, and drive sustainable revenue, especially in climate-sensitive and underserved segments.

This is an exciting opportunity for a business leader who can navigate complex partnerships, negotiate with key stakeholders, and manage a lean sales team to scale operations.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, a minimum of 6 years of experience in business development, and a proven ability to design and implement go-to-market strategies.

A robust understanding of parametric insurance products, climate data, and risk triggers is essential for this role.

The successful candidate will be responsible for forging and managing partnerships with insurers, reinsurance firms, agri-input companies, NBFCs, cooperatives, and government agencies.

In addition, they will generate, qualify, and nurture leads while tailoring sales strategies to parametric product models.

Cross-functional collaboration with product, actuarial, tech, and operations teams is also required to deliver custom parametric insurance solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to monitor market trends, weather and climate risk data, government policy shifts, and competitor offerings.

They will represent the organization at relevant industry forums, conferences, and exhibitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement the go-to-market strategy for the Parametric Insurance vertical.
  • Build the entire sales function from scratch — from prospecting to closure.
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities, customer segments, and revenue streams.
  • Develop and manage a robust sales pipeline and ensure consistent deal closures.
  • Forge and manage partnerships with insurers, reinsurance firms, agri-input companies, NBFCs, cooperatives, and government agencies.
  • Generate, qualify, and nurture leads while tailoring sales strategies to parametric product models.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, actuarial, tech, and operations teams to deliver custom parametric insurance solutions.
  • Monitor market trends, weather and climate risk data, government policy shifts, and competitor offerings.
  • Represent the company at relevant industry forums, conferences, and exhibitions.
  • Build and mentor a lean sales team to scale operations.
  • Deliver performance reports, revenue forecasts, and business insights to senior leadership.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Insurance, Agriculture, Climate Science, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in business development, preferably in parametric or climate-risk insurance, reinsurance, or rural financial services.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up and scaling a sales function from 0 to 100.
  • In-depth understanding of parametric insurance products, climate data, and risk triggers.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong execution skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, especially to risk-prone or underserved regions.
