About the Role

The position of Core Maintenance Planning Team Lead is an integral part of the Maintenance and Turnaround organization within the ENGINE Center. The successful candidate will provide routine maintenance planning support to Chevron's Refining and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) assets.

This role oversees a team of maintenance planners, schedulers, and permit writers responsible for developing detailed plans and schedules to execute planned maintenance (both preventative and corrective) and project work. Key responsibilities include integrating Routine Maintenance planning/scheduling activities with Operations, Maintenance, and Technical, as well as capital project planning/scheduling activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance Planning and Scheduling: Coordinates the planning and scheduling of all non-turnaround routine maintenance work at the site performed by various crafts.
  • Technical Support: Provides SME support on planning, estimating, and scheduling for Chevron-executed project work.
  • Work Package Development: Ensures the development of work packages of consistent high quality in compliance with Chevron standards.
  • Team Leadership: Drives accountability regarding the use of standard planning and estimating tools and practices. Accountable for the growth and development of planners and schedulers.
  • Execution Work Plans: Delivers quality execution work plans and updates on scope status and forecast. Collaborates with site representatives to determine work scope to be executed by maintenance teams.
  • Schedule Integration: Works closely with Operations to ensure schedules are effectively integrated into the operating plan.
  • Asset Maintenance Integration: Accountable to partner with the Asset Maintenance Team Leads in all crafts to feed planned work into the asset integrated plan/workflow and prepare the work for the field.
  • Cost and Execution Forecasting: Develops tools to streamline cost and execution forecasting accuracy and report on status at individual project and portfolio level. Seeks opportunities to improve planning and scheduling accuracy as well as to remove inefficiencies from planning and scheduling activities.
  • Master Project Schedule Integration: Works with Construction Services team to integrate Chevron-executed scope into a master project schedule.
  • Communication: Clearly communicates scope progress to customers, stakeholders, and team members. Assists in growing Routine/Planned Maintenance work process competency within the ENGINE.
  • Lessons Learned Reviews: Ensures Lessons Learned reviews are completed for each FEL event and drives subsequent improvement initiatives.
  • Backlog Management: Proactively supports backlog management.
  • Maintenance Resource Forecasting: Responsible for developing and improving maintenance resource forecasting for the development Asset's 5-year Work Plan and Budget.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree in relevant Engineering or Maintenance Discipline.
  • Previous Oil and Gas experience in a Maintenance Planning Leadership Position.
  • Strong technical background in planning and scheduling tools – JDE, SAP, Prometheus, Primavera P6.
  • Understanding of planning processes including constructability, advanced work packaging, work planning (schedule, resources, cost), project scoping, contract planning and management, progress measurement/controls, and materials management.
  • Knowledgeable in core maintenance and technical project planning and scheduling industry best practices. Experience with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation/controls, fabrication, inspection and related disciplines while also having a good working knowledge of complex facility operations, preferably LNG facilities.
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing site staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain logistics to ensure all work can be completed in remote locations.
  • Demonstrated skills in time management to drive effective communications between staff and maintainable assets.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
