Capital Cost Estimator Position

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Capital Cost Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed capital cost estimates for construction projects.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Estimating Capital Costs: Prepare comprehensive and precise capital cost estimates, taking into account various factors such as materials, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Building Economics and Tendering Procedures: Provide expert advice on building economics, tendering procedures, and contract arrangements to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Contract Package Development: Draft and finalize contract packages, including amendments to standard forms, to protect the interests of clients.
  • Pricing Documents and Tender Packages: Prepare pricing documents for tender packages and provide guidance on tendering procedures to stakeholders.
  • Tender Evaluation and Negotiation: Commercially evaluate all tender submissions, negotiate with tenderers, and determine amounts due to contractors for price variations.
  • Cost Reporting and Claims Management: Prepare and submit timely and accurate monthly Cost Reports and determine amounts of claims in a timely manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Relevant Education and Experience: Hold a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • QS and Cost Management Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of QS & cost management processes and be able to interpret drawings for quantification.
  • Chartered QS Status: Be a Chartered QS under a recognized organization, such as the RICS, SCSI, AIQS, or NZIQS.
  • IT Literacy and Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills in English and proficiency with MS Office.
  • Problem-Solving and Teamwork: Exhibit strong problem-solving skills, ability to work rapidly and accurately under pressure, and excellent teamwork and coordination skills.
