Accounting Specialist Job Description

A Global Accounting startup has given us a mandate to hire an experienced Accounting Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage accurate books of accounts, including ledgers, journals, and financial statements for US-based clients.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and other financial data regularly.
  • Prepare month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing reports.
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • US Tax Compliance & Reporting- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns (income tax, sales tax, payroll tax, etc.) in accordance with IRS guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with US tax regulations, filing deadlines, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist clients with tax planning, minimizing tax liabilities while maximizing legal deductions.
  • Review and analyze tax notices and correspondence, assisting clients with resolution.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Advisory- Assist clients with compliance requirements related to IRS, state agencies, and regulatory bodies.
  • Support in financial audits, tax audits, and related assessments.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Cross-Border Taxation and Advisory- Assist in advising on cross-border tax implications for US entities working globally.
  • Provide insights on withholding taxes, foreign investments, and treaty benefits, where applicable.
  • Client Management & Communication- Collaborate with clients and provide regular updates on financial performance and tax obligations.
  • Build long-term client relationships by ensuring timely and accurate service delivery.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

CPA or EA qualification preferred but not mandatory: Candidates pursuing CPA/EA are welcome.

Professional Experience: 0-3 years of experience in US bookkeeping, tax preparation, or financial compliance.

Knowledge of US GAAP, IRS regulations, and state-specific tax laws: Fresh graduates with strong knowledge of US taxation and accounting practices are encouraged to apply.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting and tax software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, TurboTax, Lacerte).

Soft Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail with high accuracy.
