The role of a Strategic Sourcing Specialist revolves around providing sourcing value within the procurement center of excellence for various business units, including Canadian corporate and IT spend categories. This encompasses sourcing insurance and operations services, consulting, human resources, marketing, communications, finance services, software, IT services, and hardware/product procurement.
As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing relationships with key internal stakeholders, executing the sourcing process, and supporting clients on governance requirements related to their deals. This includes third-party risk management, anti-money laundering screening, financial viability, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in sourcing/procurement, with a proven track record of leading sourcing initiatives, developing strategies, and working with internal stakeholders to drive processes forward. You should possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be comfortable working in an ambiguous environment.
Key qualifications include expertise in vendor contract language, SAP Ariba Contracts and Sourcing Modules, and an understanding of general procurement challenges and solutions. The ability to work effectively with internal legal counsel and other governance stakeholders is also essential.
This role requires the candidate to have strong project management skills, including creating project plans, managing to plans, communicating effectively, and engaging necessary stakeholders as required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a drive for results, a sense of urgency, and make good decisions based on analysis, common sense, and experience.
Preferred skills include effective client relationship management, financial analysis skills (including advanced Excel skills), confidence in leading negotiations, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
