Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer Role

The primary objective of this position is to ensure the seamless operation of network systems, servers, and applications around the clock.

  • Monitoring and Alarms

A key aspect of this role is to oversee the monitoring of network systems, servers, and applications 24/7. This includes acknowledging alarms for core links/device monitoring and taking prompt action to resolve any issues that may arise.

This involves closely monitoring network performance and system logs to identify potential issues before they escalate into major problems. In addition, the NOC engineer will be responsible for quickly identifying and resolving network outages, which are critical to maintaining high levels of service availability.

Fault Identification and Resolution

The NOC engineer must have a solid understanding of network elements and their functionalities. This includes fault identification time for network elements, which is critical in ensuring timely resolution of issues. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve faults efficiently.

The NOC engineer's primary goal is to ensure minimal disruption to services and maintain the highest levels of customer satisfaction. To achieve this, they will provide regular updates on incident resolution status to stakeholders, keeping them informed at all times.

Critical Incident Management

In the event of critical incidents, the NOC engineer will promptly inform stakeholders about the incident and its resolution. This ensures that customers are kept informed and that expectations are managed accordingly.

The NOC engineer will also maintain regular communication with cross-functional team members to improve customer service experience. This includes coordination with field teams, third-party providers, and partners to ensure timely updates and efficient issue resolution.

Escalation and Closure

When necessary, the NOC engineer will escalate issues to internal teams and follow up until closure with a proper Root Cause Analysis (RFO). This ensures that all issues are thoroughly investigated and resolved in a timely manner.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience

A minimum of 1 year of experience in network hardware, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless network systems. Additionally, proficiency in wireless controller devices is essential.

Certification

CCNA certification is highly recommended for this role.
