PostgreSQL Expert and Database Architect

Description:

We're seeking a highly skilled PostgreSQL professional to join our organization as a Database Administrator. As a key member of our data management team, you will be responsible for managing mission-critical PostgreSQL environments with a strong focus on reliability, optimization, and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL databases for performance, availability, and security.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks like backups, recovery, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Troubleshoot database issues, including slow queries and connectivity problems.
  • Work closely with developers to optimize SQL queries and database designs.
  • Ensure data security, user access controls, and compliance with best practices.
  • Implement and manage high availability, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively tune systems for optimal efficiency.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to database architecture, processes, and policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in PostgreSQL database administration.
  • Proficient in query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with backup and recovery procedures, replication, and clustering.
  • Strong understanding of Linux OS, shell scripting, and database automation tools.
  • Knowledge of database security, user roles, and access control mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools like pgAdmin, Nagios, or similar is a plus.

Good to Have:

  • Experience with cloud-based PostgreSQL (AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, etc.).
  • Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, or database versioning tools.
  • Knowledge of other RDBMS (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) is a plus.
