Database Infrastructure Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Infrastructure Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing critical components of the database infrastructure across production and non-production environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owning and managing critical components of the database infrastructure, ensuring performance, availability, scalability, and reliability.
  • Driving implementation of best practices in schema design, indexing, query optimization, and database tuning.
  • Taking initiative in root cause analysis and resolution of complex performance and availability issues.
  • Implementing and maintaining backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Ensuring system health through robust monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and CloudWatch.
  • Implementing and improving automation for provisioning, scaling, maintenance, and monitoring tasks using scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 4-6 years of production experience managing relational and NoSQL databases in cloud-native environments.
  • Proficiency in relational databases (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
  • Deep hands-on experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting live systems.
  • Strong scripting ability (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation of operational tasks.
  • Experience in implementing monitoring and alerting for distributed systems using Grafana, Prometheus, or equivalent cloud-native tools.
