Synopsis: We seek a Senior Communications Manager to drive strategic narrative building and cohesive messaging across internal and external platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Narrative Building & Strategic Communication
  • Create compelling narratives around community-led natural resource governance, focusing on the Promise of Commons initiative;
  • Develop and execute a communications strategy, ensuring organisational and thematic focus;
  • Integrate insights from on-ground initiatives, research, partnerships into powerful communication strategies and products;
  • Build campaigns engaging diverse audiences, including rural communities, policymakers, civil society, donors, academia, media;
  • Maintain coherence and consistency of messaging across all teams and channels.
Ecosystem Engagement & Thought Leadership
  • Enhance visibility and positioning of community stewardship of Commons through authored pieces, op-eds, media engagement, high-impact storytelling;
  • Elevate the agenda of community stewardship of Commons across convenings, campaigns, collaborative initiatives;
  • Forge and manage strategic relationships with media, NGOs, platforms aligned with our mission.
Events & Campaigns
  • Provide narrative and communications oversight for high-stakes events, launches;
  • Collaborate with program groups to shape learning products, event collateral, post-event dissemination plans;
  • Ensure alignment of communication objectives with campaign and event outcomes.
Digital Media & Design Oversight
  • Guide our digital presence, social media, website, blogs, focusing on quality, engagement, strategic positioning;
  • Build partnerships with media platforms, knowledge collaborators for building the narrative around Commons;
  • Oversee visual communication standards, content planning, ensuring brand and narrative consistency;
  • Manage external vendors, consultants delivering high-quality multimedia, digital content.
Internal Communication & Knowledge Management
  • Manage internal communications, ensuring transparency, alignment, engagement across the organisation;
  • Strengthen, manage the communications team;
  • Enhance internal communication flows between states, strengthening learning, vision across the organisation;
  • Document, share institutional learnings, case studies, stories from the ground;
  • Oversee capacity building across the organisation using communications tools effectively.
Vendor & Partner Management
  • Oversee management of external communication vendors, creative agencies, designers, writers, media consultants, production teams;
  • Lead development of clear briefs, timelines ensuring timely, high-quality, brand-aligned outputs.
