Job Overview:
We seek an experienced credit specialist with a strong background in mortgage underwriting to assess loan applications and collaborate with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate loan applications based on established credit policies and guidelines.
- Verify income, conduct credit checks, and review property valuations.
- Communicate with brokers and internal teams for clarification or documentation gaps.
- Provide timely and high-quality credit decisions while adhering to compliance standards.
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met.
- Mentor junior underwriters and support process improvements.
- Prepare reports on pipeline, SLAs, and quality metrics.
Requirements:
- Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
- Strong understanding of credit policies and loan origination systems.
- Exposure to multiple lenders is beneficial.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment.
- Experience with various income types, including PAYG, self-employed, rental, foreign income.
- Sound knowledge of credit bureaus.
- Familiarity with verification tools and fraud checks used in the mortgage ecosystem.
