Overview

"
  • We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the primary design of substation projects, with a focus on AIS/GIS/Hybrid substations up to 400kV for utility companies and developers.
  • Experience in designing HV/LV distribution systems for oil gas sector, offshore substations, thermal power plants, hydropower generation, solar, wind, and BESS projects will be an added advantage.
  • The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of secondary system requirements, including key SLD, protection control SLDs, AC/DC SLDs, LVAC system design, and cable schedule preparation.
  • They will also have in-depth knowledge and ability to perform all calculations required as part of substation primary engineering, including sag tension, SCF, conductor sizing, earthing, lightning protection, and CT/VT sizing.
  • A strong background in substation automation system (SAS), SCADA I/O list, schematics, and architecture is essential.
  • The successful candidate will also have experience with equipment sizing calculations, layout design, and technical specification preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the primary design of substation projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Develop and implement electrical design solutions for complex substation projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, technical data sheets, and other project documentation.
  • Perform site visits to inspect and test electrical systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and regulatory requirements, applying this knowledge to improve project outcomes.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design and project management, with a focus on substation projects.
  • Strong background in electrical engineering principles, including circuit analysis, electromagnetic theory, and control systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software, including ETAP, Dialux, and Autodesk.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
