Electrical Engineer Job Description

This role involves managing and developing electrical engineering/design for substations.

  • Develop electrical plans, layouts, and clearances for substation projects up to 765kV level.
  • Conduct and review electrical engineering calculations for substation design, including short circuit forces, sag tension, and earthing design.
  • Prepare technical specifications for substations and their equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project feasibility and design approval.
  • Lead technical due diligence for asset acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Electrical Engineering: Develop and review designs for substation up to 765kV level, including SLD, electrical plan layout, section layout, clearance diagram, earth-mat layout, lightning protection (DSLP) layout, etc.
  • Secondary Engineering: Prepare protection SLD, understand all types of transmission line protection, prepare power and control cable schedules, review control and protection drawings, etc.
  • Tertiary Engineering: Prepare auxiliary system LT SLD, know DG Set, etc.
  • Detailed knowledge of substation equipment, including circuit breakers, current transformers, capacitive voltage transformers, power transformers, reactors, wave traps, lightning arresters, isolators, etc.
  • Review drawings related to each equipment, GA, Schematics, type test reports, etc., along with GTP.
  • Fluent hands-on experience in AutoCAD and MS Office.
  • Brief knowledge of civil aspects of substation, CRB, FFPH, Oil pits, Cable Trenches, Roads, Relay panel rooms, etc.
  • Provide technical support to the Bidding team in providing BOQ of major items and lot items for cost estimation during tender stage.
  • Knowledge of applicable standards like IEC, IEEE, ANSI, IS, CEA regulations, and fire safety standards.
Requirements
  • B.Tech/M.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office package and ability to learn and utilize those skills quickly.
  • Brilliant analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience of recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Strong knowledge of Substation standards and its applicability.
  • Proficient in Auto cad 2D, System Studies Software like MiPower, PSS/E, ETAP.
