Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the smooth operation of MySQL databases through installation, configuration, upgrades, replication setup and monitoring, as well as user management.
  • Maintain optimal database performance by troubleshooting metadata locks, slow queries, replication lag, and optimizing system resources.
  • Oversee Linux server management, including user administration, process monitoring, cron jobs, package updates, and system resource checks.
  • Develop and implement robust backup and recovery processes utilizing tools such as mysqldump or Percona XtraBackup.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including patching, upgrading, and security hardening for both MySQL and Linux environments.
  • Provide technical support for L2 issues; escalate complex problems to L3 with thorough RCA documentation.
  • Participate in disaster recovery drills, capacity planning, and system audits to ensure business continuity.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge base documentation to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Job Requirements: To succeed in this role, you will need to possess a strong understanding of MySQL and Linux systems, as well as experience in troubleshooting and resolving intricate technical issues. Effective communication skills are essential for working within a team environment and conveying technical information to stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications: A degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with relevant work experience in a similar position. Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or Bash would be an asset.
