Job Title: Senior SQL Database Administrator

Are you a seasoned professional with expertise in managing and troubleshooting complex SQL Server environments? Do you have experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of SQL Server databases?

This is a unique opportunity to leverage your skills and knowledge to drive business growth and success. As a Senior SQL Database Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, security, and scalability of our SQL Server infrastructure.

  • Expertise in installing, configuring, managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting SQL Server 2005 – SQL Server 2022.
  • Possesses hands-on experience with service packs, cumulative updates, hotfixes (GDR, QFE), patching hierarchy, and clarity on SQL Build numbers and internal database build numbers.
  • Skilled in upgrading/migrating SQL Server from older versions (SQL Server 2005) to newer ones (till SQL Server 2022).
  • Configures linked servers between same or different SQL Server versions.
  • Expertise in setting up contained databases and utilizing them for effective migrations.
  • Configures recovery models and designs backup strategies.
  • Fine-tunes backups by using Backup Encryption, Compression, and special parameters (like MAXTRANSFERSIZE, BUFFERCOUNT, BLOCKSIZE & CHECKSUM).
  • Handles master, model, MSDB, TEMPDB, and Resource database corruptions.
  • Configures HADR like log shipping, mirroring, clustering, Always-On AG, and replication.
  • Hands-on knowledge on Windows Cluster, Quorum, Dynamic Quorum, Voting Mechanism, Failovers through Cluster Administrator and commands.
  • Hands-on knowledge on SQL Server Cluster scenarios Failover, adding disk to existing instance with dependencies, advanced cluster parameters like failure condition level, health check timeouts, patching clustered instances (SQL Server 2005 till SQL Server 2022).
  • Configures Always-On AG on standalone instances across Windows Cluster in synchronous mode and asynchronous mode.
  • Handles advanced Always-On AG scenarios like failover, adding new data/log files, understanding of lease timeout, health check timeout, and failure condition level parameters, configuring read-only routing, listeners, and backup configurations.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Strong knowledge on SQL Server architecture, parameters, T-SQL, triggers, and procedures.
  • Administration and configuration HA/ DR solutions - Clustering, Always-On Group etc.
  • Configuring and managing all types of replications and troubleshooting.
  • Patch management.
  • Always On AG scenarios - Failover.
  • Server capacity monitoring, analysis, and tuning activities.
  • Automation using scripts and tools in the area of backup, monitoring, resource utilization, HA alerts, capacity plan management.
  • SQL Server tuning.
