Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Support Specialist with extensive experience in supporting business-critical applications built on Progress OpenEdge (ABL/4GL). The ideal candidate will provide expert-level support, analysis, and resolution for application issues, while ensuring seamless system availability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advanced technical support for applications developed using Progress OpenEdge.
  • Monitor application performance and proactively address potential issues to prevent downtime.
  • Analyze and resolve complex incidents, service requests, and problem tickets within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes for recurring issues, improving overall system reliability.
  • Coordinate with development teams for bug fixes, enhancements, and release deployments, ensuring smooth transition of changes.
  • Support application upgrades, patches, and migration activities, minimizing disruptions to production environments.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of issues, resolutions, and standard operating procedures, facilitating knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Strong hands-on experience with Progress OpenEdge (ABL/4GL) in a support environment, with a deep understanding of the technology's capabilities and limitations.
  • Good grasp of Progress Database concepts and performance troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience in incident management, problem management, and change management, with a focus on delivering high-quality support services.
  • Familiarity with UNIX/Linux commands and scripting languages, enabling efficient troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Exposure to ticketing tools (ServiceNow, JIRA, Remedy, etc.), streamlining support processes and enhancing collaboration.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of integration with APIs/web services, expanding the scope of supported technologies and applications.
  • Experience in working with global support models, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and geographies.
  • Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies, facilitating alignment with development teams and iterative delivery.
