Job Title: Motor Design Engineer

Are you a skilled motor design engineer looking for a new challenge? Do you have experience in designing high-efficiency, high-performance motors for electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles?

About the Role
  • We are seeking an experienced motor design engineer to join our team. As a motor design engineer, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing high-efficiency, high-performance switched reluctance motors (SRM), synchronous reluctance motors (SynchREL), PMSM/BLDC motors, and generators.
  • You will work with electromagnetic design engineers to develop mechanically and thermally feasible designs, and build and prove concept designs with tight timing constraints.
  • Benchmarking and generation of ideas for better performance, quality, cost, weight is also a key aspect of this role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and development of electric traction motors for low/medium/high voltage applications.
  • Hands-on experience on motor sizing, permanent magnet selection, and electromagnetic design using state-of-the-art tools like Maxwell 2D/3D & Altair Flux.
  • Electric machine design and analysis using state-of-the-art eMag tools like Ansys Maxwell (2D/3D)/Altair Flux/Motor CAD.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics and thermal aspects of the motor.
  • Hands-on experience in thermal 1D thermal analysis using Motor CAD.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of automotive drivetrain and components in EV and HEV drivetrain.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design of motors and good understanding of construction/manufacturing methods of electric machines.
  • Knowledge of motor assembly, winding techniques, and magnetic materials.
  • Performance optimization with Ansys optimization tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of different control strategies used for PMSM, PMBLDC, SynchREL, and other motors.
  • Software skills: FLUX, MAXWELL, MotorCAD, SPEED, Matlab/SIMULINK with knowledge of SIMSCAPE, Python.
