Database Systems Architect

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Systems Architect to provide technical and operational support for our database servers. This includes installation, troubleshooting, performance monitoring, tuning, and optimizing.

The ideal candidate will have three years of experience with PostgreSQL version 9 up to the latest version hosted on Azure PostgreSQL platforms. They should also have experience migrating MS SQL Server databases to PostgreSQL and deploying databases in containers.

  1. Install, monitor, and maintain PostgreSQL, implementing monitoring and ingesting tools, backup and recovery processes, and system and SQL performance tuning.
  2. Develop methods for monitoring database capacity and usage, estimate PostgreSQL database capacities, and participate in application development projects responsible for database architecture design and deployment.
  3. Responsible for regular backups and recovery of databases, maintenance on databases (e.g., Vacuum Reindexing Archiving), proactive remediation of database operational problems, query tuning, and preventative maintenance.
  4. Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve live database systems issues.

The successful candidate will have strong understanding of command line and server administration, experience with PostgreSQL native tools like pgAdmin, pgAudit, pgBadger, pgPool, pSQL, programming languages such as UNIX shell scripting, PL/pgSQL, Python, or Perl, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Three years of experience with PostgreSQL version 9 up to the latest version hosted on Azure PostgreSQL platforms.
