Product Design & Development Lead

This is a unique opportunity to drive the end-to-end product design and development lifecycle of consumer and industrial electronic products. As a Product Design & Development Lead, you will be responsible for leading a small team of engineers in driving concept design through to production release and market launch.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering, hands-on problem-solving skills, and leadership ability to guide a small team. They will be responsible for translating customer/market requirements into innovative and manufacturable product designs, developing detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks with full GD&T and tolerance stack-up, performing design calculations, DFMEA, and tolerance analysis for robust product performance, and ensuring manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost optimization.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Leading complete mechanical design and development lifecycle: concept design → prototyping → design validation → tooling → product launch.
  • Translating customer/market requirements into innovative and manufacturable product designs.
  • Developing detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks with full GD&T and tolerance stack-up.
  • Performing design calculations, DFMEA, and tolerance analysis for robust product performance.
  • Ensuring manufacturability, assembly efficiency, and cost optimization.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Leading and mentoring a small team of 2–3 mechanical engineers, providing technical guidance and design reviews.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with electrical, firmware, quality, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.

Nice to Have (Added Advantage)

  • Experience with project management methodologies (Agile/Stage-Gate).
  • Exposure to PLM tools, configuration management, and documentation control.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Must have 8–10 years of mechanical product design & development (NPD) experience.
  • Education Mechanical Engineering , Industrial Engineering or STEM.
  • Strong background in consumer electronics, or similar domain experience is preferred.
  • Must-have: SolidWorks CAD expertise with simulation exposure (thermal/structural FEA preferred).
