Job Title: Chief Insurance Officer
The Chief Insurance Officer will serve as the overall leader of the Marine Insurance and Claims Department, overseeing a wide range of responsibilities.
- Implementing comprehensive marine insurance procedures across the organization.
- Maintaining oversight of Marine insurance policy coverage, placements, certificates, claims, renewals, and documentation.
- Approving high-value decisions in consultation with senior management.
This leadership role will lead all insurance policy planning and risk mitigation initiatives, review and approve insurance renewals, endorsements, and premium structures, and validate statutory and financial coverage for port entries as per departmental manual.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Marine insurance policies, claim processes, and marine insurance rules and regulations. They will be able to provide strategic direction based on risk and claim trends, analyze claim frequency, deductible impact, and loss ratios to recommend changes, and track premium movements and cost-saving opportunities in coordination with brokers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage complex or high-value claims as per approval structures in the manual/ERP.
- Ensure timely resolution and compliance with insurer protocols as per the departmental manual.
- Act as direct supervisor and mentor for MI&C team members.
Requirements:
- Masters degree in law, Risk Management or Insurance law.
- Minimum 10-15 years experience in marine insurance/claims handling.
