About the Role
The Operational Excellence Specialist will drive a focused effort to enhance operational effectiveness and profitability across global manufacturing sites and processes. This role involves collaborating with site leadership teams and directors to develop and lead performance transformations that improve operational excellence, systems, and drive continuous improvement cultures.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement cost improvement projects through operational efficiencies.
- Create and define policies for group manufacturing excellence.
- Establish an Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) program to track and eliminate lost production causes.
- Conduct diagnostics to identify areas for improvement.
- Apply value stream mapping exercises to define processes; work with the site to implement or streamline/improve use of LEAN tools, 5S, Six SIGMA, etc.
- Propose and support projects and programs within businesses for identification of improvement levers, setting smart objectives, and carrying-out Manufacturing Excellence programs.
- Support the execution of improvement projects by promoting proven tools and approaches to achieve manufacturing excellence.
- Ensure sustainability of improvements through providing training and skill building of leaders.
- Lead and mentor leadership team members, facilitating a culture that motivates employees.
- Recommend and implement methods to increase the quality of products and/or services.
- Participate in self-development activities and training of others.
- Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices. Protect employees and visitors by maintaining a safe working environment.
- Collaborate closely with other OE Managers in US, EU & IN sites and the Director of OE (US, EU & IN) to implement improvement initiatives.
Education and Experience:
We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline, preferably with a background in chemistry or engineering. Relevant work experience in project/program management, operational excellence/continuous improvement, or consulting is required. A minimum of 5-8 years' experience in these fields is necessary. Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry and relevant MS/MBA (Project Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, etc.) is preferred.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred
- Extensive previous experience in implementation of OE/CI projects in manufacturing environments.
- Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
- Proven experience with Lean Six Sigma to drive business results
- Strong technical skills
- Impact and influence skills and strong experience in change management
