Job Title: Head of Payables

Department: Finance

Reports to: CFO / Financial Director

The Head of Payables is responsible for overseeing the accounts payable function, managing vendor payments, team operations, process improvement, and compliance to ensure robust financial performance and accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate processing of all payments, vendor invoices, and expense reports.
  • Development, implementation, and monitoring of payables policies and procedures for efficiency, compliance, and control.
  • Leading and developing the accounts payable team, including hiring, training, goal setting, and ongoing development.
  • Reviewing, validating, and approving invoices; ensuring adherence to company policies, contractual terms, and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing vendor relationships and resolving payment disputes or queries.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reconciliations; overseeing month-end and year-end closing processes for payables.
  • Optimizing payables processes, automation, and risk prevention controls.
  • Preparing, analyzing, and reporting on payables metrics: aging, cash flow, forecasts, and performance.
  • Coordinating with procurement, treasury, and accounting teams to ensure alignment and timely payments.
  • Supporting financial audits with documentation and process narratives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CA/MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of accounts payable experience with at least 3 years in a managerial/supervisory role.
  • Strong expertise in payables processes, team leadership, and compliance management.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and advanced MS Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
