Job Overview:

As a Database Support Manager, you will be responsible for leading our Global IT Operations team and ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of our databases.

  • This role requires experience in database administration, leadership, and communication skills to mentor and develop a team of DBAs.
  • You will manage team schedules, on-call rotations, and resource allocation for 24/7 global coverage.
  • Conducting performance reviews, providing feedback, and supporting team members' growth is also an essential part of this role.

Database Support & Operations:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operations and support of all production and non-production database environments across multiple regions and time zones.
  • Proactive monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of database systems are crucial for success in this position.
  • Incident response, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for critical database issues require strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Best practices for database security, backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions must be implemented and maintained.
  • Managing database change control processes, ensuring adherence to established policies, is also essential.

Strategy & Improvement:

  • Developing and implementing database strategies, roadmaps, and architectural improvements with development and infrastructure teams is key to success.
  • Identifying automation opportunities to streamline database operations and enhance efficiency requires creativity and technical expertise.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives related to database performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness is essential for long-term success.
  • Staying up-to-date with emerging database technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact and benefits, is also crucial.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Acting as a primary point of contact for database-related escalations and providing expert guidance to internal teams and stakeholders requires strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborating with development, infrastructure, security, and other IT teams for seamless integration and support of applications is essential.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical audiences regarding database status and issues is critical for successful collaboration.
