System Administrator Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our team. As a key member of the infrastructure group, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of AIX and RHEL systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain AIX (v7.x) and RHEL (v7/8/9) systems.
  • Perform routine server administration tasks including system monitoring, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage LVM, file systems, NFS, and other core Unix/Linux services.
  • Administer system backups and recovery procedures using tools like NIM, mksysb, and yum/dnf repositories.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and usage statistics; optimize server resources.
  • Implement and enforce system security standards and compliance (e.g., STIG, CIS, GDPR, PCI).
  • Work with storage teams to manage SAN/NAS integration and disk provisioning.
  • Collaborate with application, middleware, and database teams to support deployments and updates.
  • Automate tasks using shell scripting, Python, or Ansible.
  • Maintain system documentation, SOPs, and contribute to ITIL-based change, incident, and problem management.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and disaster recovery planning/execution.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience with AIX system administration (HACMP, NIM, VIO, PowerHA a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience with RHEL administration (RHCSA/RHCE preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, DNS, NTP, LDAP, SSH, and system logging.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., IBM PowerVM, KVM, VMware).
  • Proficiency in shell scripting (bash, ksh) and automation tools like Ansible.
  • Familiar with security hardening, SELinux, firewalld, and system auditing.
  • Hands-on experience in system monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.
  • Comfortable with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy) and ITIL processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • IBM Certified System Administrator – AIX
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud) is a plus
  • Exposure to containerization (Docker/Podman) and orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift) a plus
Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to system reliability
