The Senior Academic Leader of a Medical University plays a pivotal role as the Chief Executive and Academic Head, driving purpose, vision, and innovation. The role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including academics and research excellence, operations, student experience, success, and well-being, as well as global partnerships.
As a strategic leader, the Senior Academic Leader oversees key duties and accountabilities, such as:
1. Strategic Academic Leadership- Develops and implements strategies to align the university with global standards and emerging trends in education and healthcare.
- Drives continuous improvement in curriculum design, pedagogy, and assessment based on learning outcomes, technological advancements, and industry needs.
- Fosters a vibrant research culture by supporting faculty and students in scholarly activities, publishing, and securing research funding.
- Strengthens institutional frameworks and administrative systems to facilitate cutting-edge research and seamless academic operations.
- Ensures compliance with statutory, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
- Oversees the functioning of statutory bodies, emphasizing governance, transparency, and accountability.
- Represents the university at national and international platforms to enhance visibility and reputation.
- Establishes partnerships with academic institutions, healthcare providers, research bodies, and industries to support student internships, placements, and knowledge exchange.
- Champions student welfare, mentoring, career readiness, and holistic development.
- Creates a safe, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating campus environment.
Key qualifications include:
- A distinguished academician with teaching experience in a reputable institution.
- A medical Doctor or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from a premier institution with experience in academic education, research, curriculum development, administration, and management is required.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience as a professor or equivalent positions held in a university system or reputed research or academic administrative organizations is required.
- Proven expertise in steering an institution toward top rankings and accreditations.
- Must have significant leadership experience in developing and executing a strategic vision; a persuasive and sophisticated communicator who can advance the institution's reputation.
- An inspirational leader with intellectual breadth, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated expertise in research-driven programs and policies, experience developing and leveraging partnerships, and success leading diverse, complex teams and organizations.
