We are seeking a highly skilled Reliable Systems Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of our diverse range of applications across our AWS infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot deployment failures and infrastructure issues across our full AWS infrastructure stack (EKS, RDS, etc.) including dev, test, and production environments.
- Create and maintain monitors for uptime and performance using Datadog, CloudWatch and other monitoring tools.
- Identify opportunities to reduce errors in systems and minimize noise in monitors and alerts.
- Collaborate with colleagues on user stories to enhance system health.
- Assist in prioritizing work and creating tasks.
- Participate in daily stand-ups with global teams.
- Develop runbooks and automation to resolve production issues.
- Analyze application problems from a configuration and logging perspective.
- Support incident response and security event analysis from security tooling.
- Train others to take on SRE responsibilities.
- Optimize system performance by identifying bottlenecks and suggesting improvements.
- Verify that systems are monitored, backed up, and follow best practices through audits and automation.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience is required.
- 4+ years of experience in the following:
- AWS (EC2, EKS, ECS, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, IAM, AWS CLI, etc.). Experience with containers and EKS is essential.
- Linux (Centos, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu)
- Git source code management (Gitlab, GitHub)
- Bash shell scripting or other scripting/programming experience
- SaaS-based Web application experience
- Relational Database performance and monitoring (Postgres RDS preferred)
- Experience with Jenkins or similar CI/CD tooling
- Strong understanding of production system components (Memory, CPU, Disk space, Disk i/o, Network i/o, etc.) is required.
- Experience with monitoring, alerting, and log aggregation tools: Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, PagerDuty, Statuspage.
- Ability to analyze application server logs, outputs, CloudTrail and other critical logging output.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills are necessary.
- Prior application coding and debugging experience (Ruby, Python, etc.)
- Terraform and/or CloudFormation
- Experience troubleshooting application integrations
- Other Technologies: Cloudflare, AWS Guard duty, Crowdstrike.
