Job Title: Data Engineer

This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive and determined individual with diverse skills in data management, reporting, and dashboarding disciplines.

As a Data Engineer, you will work with extensive experience in database administration, TSQL (stored procedures, functions, triggers, ad-hoc queries), SSRS (design/development, subscriptions, query performance tuning, and BAU support), ETL, Azure data storage, Azure Data Factory, and pipelines, Azure Synapse, and data warehousing. Some exposure to Power BI and Azure analytics is also beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build data solutions that meet business needs.
  • Develop architectures, designs, and implement warehouse and reporting solutions.
  • Extract data from bespoke applications and third-party products.
  • Consolidate multiple data sources into a data warehouse or data lake.
  • Ensure data accessibility and structure for reporting needs.
  • Set up dashboards and reports in data visualization and reporting tools.
  • Build resilient, reliable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Monitor and alert issues proactively.
  • Implement best practices.
  • Collaborate as part of an agile team to design, develop, and maintain software.
  • Collaborate with product management to prioritize and plan technical debt remediation and refactoring of data structures and stored procedures.
  • Design and implement repeatable data pull requests and execute ad-hoc requests as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or relevant work experience.
  • 10+ years of strong experience with SQL Servers and relational databases.
  • Strong experience querying and optimizing complex data sets.
  • Strong experience creating and optimizing complex stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Strong experience working with older legacy code and systems.
  • End-to-end knowledge from product databases to information visualization.
  • Experience in Azure cloud technologies, including ADF, Functions, DLS, Synapse, etc.
  • Experience in relational database design and architecture.
  • Expertise in data visualization and reporting using SSRS and Power BI.
  • Experience with SSIS, ADF, or other ETL tools.
  • Experience with data warehousing and data modeling (single-layer data warehouse/Kimball).
  • .NET experience is a plus.
  • Azure experience is a plus.
  • Agile environment experience is a plus.
  • AWS cloud data technology experience is beneficial.
  • Teamwork and collaboration – share thoughts, seek ideas, and feedback from others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with staff at all levels.
  • Ability to self-organize, prioritize, and track tasks.
  • Work independently or in a team.
