Operations Manager, RBS Instock

The RBS Instock team is an integral part of Amazon's online product lifecycle and buying operations. As an Operations Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring Amazon remains competitive in the online retail space with the best price, wide selection, and good product information. Your primary responsibility will be to create and enhance retail selection on the worldwide Amazon online catalog and reduce defects.
Key Responsibilities
An L5 Operations Manager is expected to independently own business processes and metrics, establish processes for measuring, tracking, and driving continuous improvements. They will Forecast and plan capacity to meet the business needs and drive a culture of quality and process excellence. They also effectively partner and manage stakeholders and build scalable solutions that solve business problems and drive adoption across teams. The Operations Manager is also expected to hire, mentor, and develop a high-performance team, identify and groom top talent, develop leadership principles within the team, and continuously raise the bar.
Key Performance Areas
Managing Business Problem/Programs:
1) Knowledge of supply chain backend operations.
2) Should be managing a team of managers to achieve group objectives.
3) Has had experience on defining and owning business goals and establish mechanisms to track them.
4) Should have been able to identify and tackle hard business problems within their organization and propose long-term solutions.
5) Should have lead data analyst/program managers
6) Should have been able to establish SMART goals for their organization and direct reports
Interpersonal Relations and Influence, Stakeholder Management:
1) Establishes a vision and engages and inspires others
2) Leverages collaborative relationships to accomplish goals and negotiates for win-win situations
3) Has had experience in managing conflicts
4) Experience in handling WW/large-scale projects, proven ability to interact directly with functions involved in the part of project (e.g. Supply Chain, Transportation, Operations Research, Finance, Fulfillment Centers, Technology, Engineering, Facility, Finance, IT, global functions) and deliver results.
5) Ability to work closely with internal product and project teams to design scalable and auto-resolution solutions.
6) Ability to work with various internal teams (e.g. supply chain, fulfillment center, system teams) to help drive tools and process improvements that reduce supply chain defects.
7) Should be able to own WBR, MBR, and QBRs with excellent writing and verbal communications skills

1) Should have experience in managing the manager and holds them accountable for meeting them.
2) Delegates work based on organizational needs and individual capabilities and development needs
3) Provides timely, valuable feedback to direct reports and coaches continuously
4) Promptly addresses performance issues among direct reports and the larger group
5) Recognizes and rewards good performance
6) Identifies own development needs; creates and implements development plans for the direct reports to help achieve their career aspirations
7) Should have been able to contribute to hiring managers, data analyst, and (or) program managers
8) Should have been able to develop resources within their teams (preferably managers)
Problem Solving:
1) Analytical reasoning including assessing and understanding events; anticipating questions and potential impact
2) Integrating information from several sources to understand an issue
3) Strategic thinking and planning
4) Draws upon the expertise of others to assist in addressing issues or solving problems
5) Makes thoughtful decisions based on sound rationale
6) Should have worked or root-cause fixing than fixing symptoms
Technical expertise:
1) Experience working in a fast-paced environment similar to a high-tech-ops start-up with responsibility for leading direct reports and influencing teams in a matrixed environment.
2) Good to have experience with Python/VBA or any leading RPA software such as UI path, Automation anywhere, etc.
3) Does the person think tech first?
4) Ability to write technical specs that go into BRD or PRFAQs
Requirements
- 2+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of team management experience
- Experience leading process improvements
- Experience with data analysis and business case development, and managing programs from concept to implementation
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of data mining using SQL
- Experience in translating business needs into detailed feature requirements
- Experience in e-commerce/Hi-tech/Retail industry or management consulting with focus on one of these industries
