Job Purpose:

To support and empower students with diverse learning needs by developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), encouraging inclusive classroom practices, and collaborating with teachers, parents, and the school community to ensure the holistic development of every learner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching & Learning:
    • Create tailored learning interventions for students with special needs.
    • Work collaboratively with subject teachers to adapt curriculum content, teaching methods, and classroom strategies to support inclusive education.
    • Promote a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment that encourages student independence and confidence.
  • Assessment & Reporting:
    • Develop IEPs with clear goals and strategies.
    • Track student progress through formal and informal assessments.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of interventions, assessments, and student progress.
  • Curriculum Development:
    • Support curriculum adaptation to address the needs of learners with diverse abilities.
    • Integrate assistive technologies and differentiated instructional strategies where appropriate.
    • Contribute to initiatives promoting inclusivity and accessibility in learning.
  • Pastoral & Administrative Duties:
    • Build positive relationships with students to support their emotional and social well-being.
    • Collaborate with parents to provide guidance, progress updates, and resources.
    • Support school events, awareness programs, and activities related to inclusivity.
    • Complete administrative responsibilities, including reports and compliance documentation.
  • Professional Development:
    • Stay updated on the latest developments, best practices, and tools in special education.
    • Participate in training, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
    • Share knowledge with colleagues to strengthen inclusive teaching practices.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent qualification.
    • RCI registration preferred.
    • B.Ed in Special Education (desirable).
    Experience:
    • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Special Educator in a school setting.
    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective IEPs.
    • Proven track record of working collaboratively with faculty, students, and parents.
    Skills & Attributes:
    • Empathy, patience, and adaptability when working with students of varied needs.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in using assistive technologies and inclusive teaching strategies.
    • Commitment to fostering an inclusive school culture.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse faculty team.
