Key Responsibilities:

  • The role holder will be responsible for managing the FMCG team for the assigned region. He/She will oversee category management for the entire region, comprising approximately 20-30 stores.
  • The successful candidate will lead a team of 8-10 members in buying national and regional FMCG brands. They will conduct classroom training and on-the-job training for team members, develop their skills, and ensure they are groomed for future roles.
  • He/she will coordinate and address challenges in buying and moving goods from vendors to distribution centers (DCs) and DCs to stores, ensuring smooth business operations.
  • Regular meetings with key vendor partners will focus on negotiations, forecasting, and category development initiatives.
  • Closely working with various teams, including store operations, supply chain, core purchase, and central purchase, will help maximize off-takes and ensure best promotions in stores.
  • Monthly and quarterly plans will be discussed and closed with FMCG vendors, incorporating demand planning, promotions, and smooth supplies to stores.
  • Responsibilities include training and grooming purchase officers and assistant purchase managers through on-the-job training and classroom sessions.
  • Ensuring product availability in both DCs and stores is a top priority, along with maintaining competitive pricing in the market.
  • Travel across locations within the assigned region and PAN India may be required.

Requisites:

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in FMCG sales is required. A graduate or postgraduate degree with an MBA is also necessary.
  • Experience in general trade is preferred, and the candidate must have managed a similar role before.
  • Knowledge of the local language and location of posting is essential, as well as a willingness to travel.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Strong team management and training skills are required, as the successful candidate will lead a large team and train/groom team members.
