Network Support Engineer Job Description

The role involves providing technical support to clients for their network-related issues. This includes troubleshooting and resolving problems with network products and protocols, such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and more.

This position requires excellent communication skills, as the engineer will need to interact with customers and provide clear explanations of complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve network-related issues reported by customers
  • Provide support on customer cases, including escalation and discussion with product development teams
  • Investigate areas of misalignment or critical issues and suggest mitigation strategies
  • Identify issues through support trends and suggest corrective actions
  • Share ideas to enhance product UX and UI
  • Perform lab recreates in internal lab setup as part of troubleshooting
  • Provide support and mentoring to Tier 1 team members in complex scenarios

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of networking industry, products, and protocols
  • Knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, OSI model, IP Addressing, ARP, DHCP, DNS, POE, ICMP, IPv4 & IPv6, IEEE 802.1Q trunking, Wireless LAN Fundamentals, VPN, NAT/PAT, etc.
  • Proven work experience in troubleshooting complex customer environments
  • Expertise in balancing communications needs of each customer case
  • Strong analytical mind and ability to triage
  • Aptitude for both learning and teaching
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate matters to customers
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Excellent account management, follow-through, and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and be adaptable in a fast-paced environment
