Established in 2020, MUFG Global Service Private Limited (MGS) is a 100% subsidiary of MUFG, with offices in Bengaluru and Mumbai. MGS India serves as a Global Capability Centre / Centre of Excellence, providing support services across various functions such as IT, KYC/AML, Credit, Operations, etc., to MUFG Bank offices globally. About the Role:

Position Title: Senior Operations Manager

Corporate Title: Senior AVP

Reporting to: Vice President-DH

Location: Bangalore/Mumbai

Job Summary:

This role involves controlling and monitoring operations to ensure smooth functioning of the department, comprising all products, including MIS and data maintenance for internal reporting. The successful candidate will manage a team, approve transactions, and execute daily transactions to process customer transactions in a timely manner. Additionally, they will provide inputs to operations processes or system enhancements for operational efficiency, conduct robust investigations on incidents to mitigate operations risks, maintain healthy competition, promote interactive knowledge sharing sessions in the department, encourage staff to showcase innovative ideas and talent, recognize, and reward deserving staff.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Oversight: Support the development of the department's strategy.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the department's finances, ensuring accurate and timely transaction processing.

Customer Focus:

  • Customer Requirements: Attend to customer requirements and ensure proper customer service.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within MUFG.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with CSD and front teams, as well as Product Offices/owners, to understand unique transactions and assist in arriving at solutions.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate information to respond to auditors and regulators in a timely manner.

People Development:

  • Team Leadership: Manage (objective setting & performance management), develop (coaching, career progression & training), and reward (financial and non-financial rewards) direct reports.
  • Role Modeling: Act as a role model to team members, adhering to all company policies/guidelines.
  • Developmental Projects: Support projects related to the Department.
  • Complex Issue Resolution: Coach and guide team members on complex issues.
  • Liaison: Liaise with Business teams, Legal, Credit, and Audit departments for timely and quality deliverables.
  • Training and Backup: Train and prepare backups at various levels for uninterrupted department functions.

Other/Control:

  • Process Improvement: Provide input into regional and local Operations processes and workflows to deliver best practices, efficiency, and mitigate risk.
  • Daily Deposit Transactions: Review and approve daily deposit transactions.
  • Audit and Compliance: Attend Internal and External Audits/Inspections pertaining to the Dept. and resolve objections promptly with compliance reports to Management.
  • Weakness Identification: Report Superiors any weaknesses, insufficiency, or improper control found with a view to safeguard the Bank's interest.
  • Reports Analysis: Review reports prepared by the team, including but not limited to MIS, exceptional handling reports, incident, and overdue reports.
  • Transaction Requests: Review and analyze exceptional handling transaction requests to ensure transaction processes comply with MUFG policies and regulations.
  • Incident Investigation: Support investigating incidents within the department by preparing incident reports and providing recommendations to mitigate future risks.
  • Department Initiatives: Develop departmental initiatives to drive process and system improvement/effectiveness.
  • Committee Participation: Participate in relevant committees within Branch.
  • Risk Management: Manage the operation risk profile of the departments by ensuring the team understands MUFG policies and local regulations.
  • Internal and External Audits: Lead and oversee internal and external audits by coordinating activities for the department.
  • Trend Knowledge: Maintain good working knowledge of industry trends, products, relevant laws, and regulations.
  • Trusted Advisor: Act as a trusted advisor to management/leadership team on transactions-related topics.

Candidate Profile:

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience with domain expertise.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills to manage a team.
  • Substantial experience in Operations, specifically for Deposit transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of operations systems to understand transaction processes.
  • Strong understanding of local banking regulatory environment and local regulations.

Salary Estimate:

The estimated salary for this role is ₹30,00,000 - ₹60,00,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
