Import Ocean Freight Manager Job Summary:

  • A highly skilled Import Ocean Freight Manager is required to lead and manage the import ocean freight operations for FCL, LCL, and consolidation.
  • The ideal candidate will develop pricing strategies, negotiate rates with carriers, and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  • Responsibilities include overseeing pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and end-to-end import shipment handling.
  • The Import Ocean Freight Manager will coordinate with internal departments (sales, documentation, customer service, and finance) to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery.
  • This role requires ensuring compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  • The successful candidate will develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  • Management of the import operations team – allocation of resources, setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and provision of ongoing training – is also a key responsibility.
  • Maintaining high standards of customer service, promptly resolving issues, and ensuring consistent client satisfaction are essential aspects of this role.
  • Additionally, regular MIS/reports for senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements will be generated.
