Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Naval Architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ship design and vessel digital twin development, with a minimum of 12-20 years of experience in the shipping industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for helping our team build digital solutions for large container ships, including fuel consumption-power curves, vessel hydrodynamic performance models, and predictive models for parametric/synchronous rolling in rough sea weather conditions.

You will also be required to help build solutions for diagnosing hull fouling margins, engine power decomposition, and other related tasks.

In this role, you will work closely with data scientists to develop actionable tasks, drive adoption, and articulate value.

A typical day may involve analyzing container ship operations data, conceptualizing building digital twins of large container vessels, identifying relevant data needed to build digital twins, and guiding data scientists with domain inputs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze container ship operations data (historical, noon reports, EEXI reports, HF data)
  • Conceptualize building digital twins of large container vessels (new and old ships in the fleet)
  • Identify relevant data needed to build digital twins
  • Guide data scientists with domain inputs
  • Buid and guide the Data Scientists with the right and proactive domain inputs for building the Digital Twin

Fuel Performance Curves: You will be responsible for building and developing digital solutions that include fuel performance curves, vessel hydrodynamic stability, and safety thresholds at bad weather conditions.

Vessel Hydrodynamic Simulation: You will need to build and run solutions like vessel hydrodynamic simulation to support the development of digital solutions.

Data Science: You should have excellent appreciation and/or experience of data science subjects - simulation, optimization, machine learning models etc.

Consulting Skills: Excellent consulting skills, leadership in uncertain and ambiguous situations, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, solutioning and design thinking skills are essential.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, spoken, written, and client-facing roles are necessary.

Tactical Solutions: You will need to help build tactical solutions for avoiding parametric and synchronous rolling, including methods to alert concerned people with recommendations.

Process Improvements: You will be responsible for scanning and recommending process improvements, statutory guidelines, and updates, benchmarking where necessary.
