Supervisor of Strategic Sourcing

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining metrics and monitoring supplier performance to ensure continuous improvement.

This involves evaluating quality, setting performance benchmarks, and identifying risks associated with supplier selection.

The role requires close collaboration with suppliers to optimize quality and manufacturability.

  • Develop and implement process improvements to deploy best-known methods related to procurement, inventory control, and manufacturing strategies.
  • Coordinate early supplier involvement in new product design to leverage their expertise and optimize quality.
  • Establish goals with suppliers to ensure material delivery meets forecasted demand.
  • Act as an escalation point to resolve supply chain shortages.
  • Represent supplier management on cross-functional teams to address supply challenges and ensure customer needs are met.
  • Work with engineering and suppliers to resolve complex problems and ensure timely delivery of critical materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain Management: Manage global suppliers for direct and indirect materials and services.
  • Purchasing Agreements: Develop and manage purchasing agreements and contracts.
  • Supplier Performance Metrics: Develop and improve supplier performance metrics such as OTD, Consignment, and Leadtime.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Apply creative thinking and strong problem-solving skills to overcome supply chain challenges.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with various levels of the organization, including executives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3+ years of Supply Chain Management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of purchasing agreements and contracting.
  • Experience in developing and managing supplier performance metrics.
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and ERP systems (SAP experience preferred).
